Special Education Teacher | Arivaca, Arizona
Make a transformative impact in students’ lives by guiding a small, engaged classroom as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis. Conveniently organized with two instructional sessions, your days will offer a dynamic blend of teaching and individualized attention. The AM session hosts three students from 7:45–11:00, while the PM session supports four students from 11:00–3:00, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesdays are reserved exclusively for planning, giving you dedicated time to collaborate, reflect, and craft meaningful lessons.
In this role, you’re never alone—work alongside two experienced paraprofessionals who provide valuable support, ensuring each student receives the attention and guidance they need. As the academic year progresses, new students join the class following evaluations, keeping your work both challenging and rewarding.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; advanced degree or certification preferred
- Valid teaching credential or eligibility for certification in Special Education
- Passion for differentiated instruction and adapting curriculum for diverse learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork with paraprofessionals, students, and families
- Experience developing IEPs and participating in student evaluations
- Resourcefulness, patience, and creativity in delivering individualized student support
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging instructional plans tailored to students’ IEPs
- Track progress, maintain records, and participate in ongoing assessments
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to implement accommodations and modifications
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment
- Engage families in their children’s learning journey and communicate progress
