Key Requirements:

  • Active Georgia Special Education teaching license with relevant endorsements required.
  • Adaptive SPED Certification for North Jackson Elementary (serving as an Autism Level 3 self-contained classroom teacher).
  • SPED General Curriculum Certification for West Jackson Middle School (serving as a self-contained ASD Level 1 or Adaptive MI/MO teacher).
  • Experience working with students who have high physical and academic needs preferred.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in a self-contained classroom setting, using appropriate adaptations and accommodations.
  • Develop and update student IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Foster a supportive, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Manage student behaviors and maintain a safe classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate updates to parents and the educational team.

This onsite position offers you the chance to work 37.5 hours per week during the academic calendar, making a significant contribution to student development in a rewarding setting.
