Qualifications & Certifications:
- Active Georgia Special Education Teaching License with all appropriate endorsements (ADAPTIVE SPED CERT and/or SPED GENERAL CURRICULUM CERT required)
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those with significant academic and physical needs preferred
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained setting at North Jackson Elementary (Autism Level 3, high physical and academic needs)
- Teach in a self-contained classroom at West Jackson Middle School, focusing on Level 1 ASD or adaptive MI/MO curriculum
- Work closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, parents, and school staff
- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs, track progress, and document outcomes
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to meet individual student needs
- Participate in team meetings and professional development
