Special Education Teacher | Auburn, Washington

This rewarding onsite role is full time (37.5 hours/week) during the 2026-2027 school year.
Ideal candidates bring at least five years of special education experience, are comfortable working in a classroom focused on life skills and pre-employment training, and thrive in environments where collaboration and expertise are highly valued. You’ll have the opportunity to shape programming tailored to your students’ unique strengths and needs while working with an engaged, supportive educational community.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Special Education (SPED) Teaching License and ESA certificate (verification required)
- Minimum five years of recent special education teaching experience—mid-career professionals encouraged to apply
- Strong background supporting transition-aged students (18-22), ideally in a transition or life skills classroom
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is essential
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to participate in a BIE adjudication process prior to your start date
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive, individualized instruction to students in a transition program
- Develop and implement IEPs that address life, vocational, and functional skills
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom culture
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Track and communicate student progress and foster self-advocacy
