Step into a rewarding contract role supporting elementary students in a structured special education setting. This opportunity takes place onsite at a welcoming school near Aurora, IL for the 2026-27 academic year. Work closely with a small group of high-incidence need students at the elementary level, alongside two experienced paraprofessionals. Your expertise will help foster growth, independence, and academic success for each student in your care.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
- Special education teaching experience, ideally with elementary-age students
- Comfort and skill in managing behaviors and supporting students requiring toileting assistance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessional staff and related service providers
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Compassion, flexibility, and commitment to meeting diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to a caseload of five students in a self-contained classroom
- Implement IEP goals, track student progress, and tailor strategies for individual success
- Manage classroom routines, ensuring a safe and positive environment conducive to learning
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, school staff, and families
- Support students with activities of daily living as needed, including toileting
- Employ proactive behavior management strategies and interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing planning and documentation
