Special Education Teacher in Aurora, IL
Step into a rewarding opportunity making a meaningful difference with elementary students in a supportive special education environment. This onsite contract role involves working 35 hours per week within a structured classroom setting, where you’ll provide dedicated instruction and behavioral support for approximately five students with high-incidence needs. Working alongside two experienced paraprofessionals, you’ll help foster growth and independence in every student.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Hold an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
- Previous experience in a special education classroom strongly preferred
- Confident managing behavioral supports and interventions
- Willingness and ability to assist with toileting and personal care as needed
- Skilled at collaborating with paraprofessionals and related service providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to students’ diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Implement IEP goals, document progress, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive classroom culture focused on safety and growth
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and administration to ensure consistency
- Proactively address behavioral challenges with patience and evidence-based strategies
- Communicate regularly with families and guardians to support student success
