Qualifications & Requirements:
- Active Connecticut Special Education (SPED) Teaching License is required
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and families
- Punctual, reliable, and flexible with a professional and positive attitude
- State and district-specific requirements may apply; candidates meeting these will be prioritized
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and adapt individualized instructional strategies for students in 1st and 2nd grade
- Develop and maintain IEPs, monitoring student progress and adjusting interventions as needed
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured classroom environment
- Provide direct support and instruction both in resource and inclusive classroom settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to encourage student achievement
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication in accordance with district and state regulations
