Two full-time contract positions are available, each offering the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to student growth and individual success. These roles are based at a dynamic middle school and are ideal for passionate educators who thrive on collaboration and creativity in the classroom.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut certification in Special Education, or eligibility to obtain certification
- Strong background in SPED practices for middle school grades
- For one position: Experience or training in reading interventions (e.g., SPIRE, WILSON, OG) is highly preferred
- Expertise in teaching English Language Arts, Math, and providing specialized instruction to 6th grade students
- Ability to support students’ executive functioning skills and provide academic assistance in a resource or pull-out model for grades 6-8
- Effective communication and team collaboration skills
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, encouraging learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in accordance with students’ IEP goals
- Plan and implement lessons in ELA, Math, or resource support, depending on assignment
- Monitor academic progress and provide data-driven feedback
- Support development of executive functioning strategies for students with diverse needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and school-based professional development
