Kindergarten Elementary Special Education Teacher - Bridgeport, Connecticut

The position begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year, offering a crucial role in shaping students' academic journeys.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with general education teachers, utilizing both push-in and pull-out models to deliver individualized support. The work schedule runs from 7:30 AM to 3:50 PM, with consideration for earlier departures if necessary. Dress professionally in business casual Monday through Thursday and enjoy the option to wear jeans with a smart top on Fridays.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification (elementary level, K-4 licensure is ideal, but single grade licensure considered)
- Background in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including adapting instruction and materials
- Experience in implementing IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills to interact with students, families, and fellow educators
- Passion for fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment
- Familiarity with both push-in and pull-out educational models
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed instruction to address individual student goals
- Modify lessons and assessments to meet the needs of students with disabilities
- Partner with classroom teachers and support staff to implement accommodations
- Continually track student progress and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation of student services and progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on goal setting
