Key Qualifications:
- Current and valid Special Education Teacher (SPED) license issued by the state of Connecticut (CT SPED License required)
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education or related field
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in 1st and 2nd grades
- Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation aligned with state and district requirements
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and evidence-based intervention strategies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload of 1st and 2nd grade students
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students’ unique learning needs in individual and small group settings
- Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administration
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to foster academic, social, and emotional growth
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
