Special Education Teacher - Buford, GA
Step into a rewarding contract position as a special education professional supporting K-1 students with developmental delays in a self-contained classroom setting. This full-time opportunity centers around a small class of four kindergarteners and five first graders, each with unique needs across general and adapted curriculum. Supported by two dedicated paraprofessionals, you will play a key part in shaping effective individualized learning experiences, ensuring every student has the chance to thrive.
Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Special Education Adapted Curriculum Certification
- Certification in all core academic content areas: Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies
- Experience designing and executing IEPs and writing compliant documentation
- Proficient in behavior intervention strategies and classroom management
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning levels and needs
- Reference checks required: three professional references must be supplied, with at least one from a recent supervisor (principal, assistant principal, coordinator, etc.)
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized IEP goals and accommodations
- Provide behavioral interventions and positive support strategies
- Collaborate closely with administrators, related service providers, families, and paraprofessionals
- Monitor student progress and ensure compliance with documentation requirements
- Teach and differentiate across multiple academic subjects
