Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in an inclusive school setting near Chicago, IL. With a full-time contract for the 2026-2027 school year, this opportunity allows you to focus on individualized education in a collaborative environment.
This role will have you guiding a caseload of eight students, all of whom are non-verbal, within either an Autism support or transition program. You’ll work closely with a team of 2-3 paraprofessionals, ensuring students receive the personalized assistance they need to thrive. The school community is highly supportive, committed to providing resources and professional growth.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active LBS1 endorsement and Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Previous experience with non-verbal or Autism spectrum students preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate approach and dedication to student growth and achievement
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state guidelines
- Foster an encouraging, accessible, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to maximize academic and social progress
- Document progress and communicate regularly with families and support staff
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support communication and life skills
