Job Description
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join a welcoming school district in the Columbia, South Carolina area. Position Responsibilities
- Design and deliver individualized instruction that aligns with each student's educational goals
- Develop, review, and maintain compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based instructional strategies
- Evaluate student progress through assessments, observations, and ongoing data collection
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to promote student achievement
- Maintain detailed documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements
- Build positive partnerships with families through regular communication and progress updates

- Demonstrates strong classroom leadership and instructional planning skills
- Communicates effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Understands differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Maintains flexibility while managing multiple student needs and responsibilities
- Is committed to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina Special Education Teaching Certificate or eligibility for licensure
- Knowledge of IDEA regulations and the IEP process
- Ability to implement accommodations and behavior support strategies
- Meets all state and district employment requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required
- Master's degree preferred but not required
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with students with mild, moderate, or severe disabilities in a school setting
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans, progress monitoring, and educational technology is beneficial
- Newly licensed educators are encouraged to apply
