Special Education Teacher | Cranston, Rhode Island
Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting elementary students with developmental disabilities in Central Falls, RI. This contract position spans the 2026-2027 school year, offering the chance to make a profound impact with a small classroom setting and robust support. You’ll be working with grades 3-4, guiding fewer than eight students in a personalized, supportive classroom with a 1:3 teacher assistant ratio.
Ideal candidates will bring their passion for special education to a single school site, working 37.5 hours per week. Exceptional training and professional growth will be provided throughout the year, giving you the resources needed to make a difference. The district also ensures comprehensive support, with additional staff such as paraprofessionals, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs present as needed.
Key Requirements:
- Valid Special Education license from Rhode Island or Massachusetts (mild-moderate or severe)
- Experience teaching elementary students, particularly those with developmental disabilities, is highly valued
- Comfort and enthusiasm for working in small group settings
- Commitment to ongoing learning—considerable training is provided
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work alongside paraprofessionals and other staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students in grades 3-4 with developmental disabilities
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs
- Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment
- Collaborate with teaching assistants and related service providers
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress
