Special Education Teacher - Danbury, CT

We are seeking TWO Special Education professionals for a full-time contract role at a dynamic middle school. These openings are available immediately for the upcoming school year, providing valuable experience within a collaborative and student-focused environment.
Position 1:
Guide 6th grade students in both English Language Arts and Math, including specialized reading and math instruction. Candidates with experience or training in structured literacy programs (such as SPIRE, WILSON, or OG) are especially encouraged to apply.
Position 2:
Serve grades 6-8 as an Academic Assistance teacher, targeting executive functioning skills and providing support across core academic subjects in a resource-style setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Special Education Certification or demonstrated eligibility to become certified in Connecticut (required)
- Background in reading intervention programs for the reading/math position (preferable)
- Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Commitment to individualized learning plans and differentiated instruction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to support diverse learning needs
- Implement reading and math interventions for assigned students
- Monitor progress toward IEP and executive functioning goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, and families
- Maintain accurate records of student growth and achievement
