Special Education Teacher | Des Plaines, Illinois

You’ll spend your days in a school known for its positive culture and collaborative approach. As a vital member of the special education team, you’ll teach and empower five amazing students, with two paraprofessionals sharing your mission. Your comfort and competence in supporting toileting and managing behavioral needs will be essential for helping each child achieve their best.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active PEL with LBS1 endorsement—required for immediate consideration
- Previous experience in a special education classroom is highly valued
- Skill and confidence in supporting toileting and addressing student behaviors
- Committed to collaboration and positive communication with staff and families
- Passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments and individualized support
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized instruction tailored to IEP goals
- Collaborate daily with paraprofessionals to ensure student safety and engagement
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and communication with families
- Maintain thorough records and contribute to a structured, nurturing environment
- Adapt teaching strategies as needed to address academic and behavioral needs
This full-time, contract role (35 hours/week) is based onsite at a well-respected elementary school. You’ll work a school-year schedule between 8/11/26 – 5/24/27, giving you the chance to make a meaningful impact while following the rhythms of the academic calendar.
