This contract role offers a rewarding opportunity to foster growth and independence, working closely with a dedicated team including two paraprofessionals in a supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
- Prior experience in special education classroom settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to support students' behavioral and personal care needs (including toileting assistance)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Positive, patient, and adaptable attitude essential for meeting diverse student needs
What You’ll Do:
- Provide engaging, individualized instruction to a small group of elementary students, adapting lessons to support diverse learning styles and abilities
- Implement evidence-based behavioral supports and classroom management strategies in collaboration with paraprofessionals
- Assist students with personal care tasks when necessary, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment
- Partner closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to create consistent support plans
- Document progress and participate in IEP meetings, helping shape each student's educational path
