This is a full-time, contract position based near Detroit, MI, supporting students from 6th to 10th grade. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working in self-contained classrooms or with cognitively impaired students
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, aides, and support staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Passion for helping students achieve their educational and developmental goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to students' abilities and needs
- Develop and implement IEPs in accordance with school and state guidelines
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and challenges
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student's success
- Monitor student growth and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records and support school compliance efforts
