What you’ll bring:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with middle school-aged students, ideally in self-contained classrooms
- Strong understanding of strategies for supporting students with severe disabilities
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills with students, fellow educators, and families
- Commitment to fostering a respectful, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere
Your main responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to a class of middle school students with significant support needs
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to ensure accessibility and success for all students
- Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and administrators
- Track and assess student progress, using data to inform instruction
- Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with applicable special education laws and requirements
- Communicate consistently with families, sharing student achievements and addressing needs
