What You'll Do
As a Special Education Teacher, you'll provide specialized instruction and develop educational plans that support students academically, socially, and behaviorally. Working closely with families and school staff, you'll help ensure students receive the resources and accommodations they need to succeed.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide resource support in Reading, Math, and other core areas.
Monitor student progress in gen ed classrooms through co-teaching and consultations.
Design and implement individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP
Monitor academic and behavioral progress while adjusting instructional strategies as needed
Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, administrators, and parents
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning
Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and compliance documentation
Support students in developing independence, confidence, and life skills
Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal special education requirements
Position Highlights
Full-time schedule (32.5–37.5 hours per week)
School-based contract assignment
Collaborative special education teams and administrative support
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
Active Alabama Special Education Teaching Certifications
Previous experience in a school setting preferred
New graduates and experienced educators are encouraged to apply
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Professional references from the past two years
