Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education certification or eligibility for certification in Connecticut is required
- Experience or knowledge in reading intervention programs (SPIRE, WILSON, OG, etc.) preferred for the 6th Grade ELA/Math position
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiation techniques
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Previous school-based or resource room experience preferred
Responsibilities:
- For the 6th Grade English Language Arts/Math role: Provide targeted instruction in ELA, Specialized Reading, Math, and Specialized Math following intervention strategies to support diverse learners
- For the Academic Assistance Teacher position: Guide students grades 6-8 on executive functioning goals, assist with organization, planning, and academic support across core subjects in a resource-like environment
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
- Monitor progress, collect data, and collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Attend IEP meetings and ensure compliance with all special education regulations
- Cultivate an encouraging classroom culture that values every learner’s individual strengths
This contract position offers consistent weekday hours (M-F, 35-37.5 hours weekly) for the school year.
