Special Education Teacher- Spotsylvania County, VA
ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. This full-time, school-based position will serve an elementary self-contained Autism classroom, providing specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and varying levels of cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning needs.

Qualifications:
Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure required
Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Knowledge of special education compliance and documentation requirements
Strong classroom management and behavior support skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
Previous experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
Experience in self-contained special education classrooms preferred
Familiarity with ABA principles, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems preferred
Crisis prevention and de-escalation training preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
Provide direct instruction aligned with state standards and individualized student goals
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, behavior specialists, and related service providers
Supervise and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
Collect and analyze student progress data and maintain compliance documentation
Foster communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and independent living skills
Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
Student Population:
Elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Students may present with varying communication abilities, sensory needs, behavioral challenges, and cognitive disabilities
Self-contained classroom with intensive individualized support and specialized instruction
