Special Education Teacher – Elementary
Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Schedule: Full-time
Contract: upcoming school year
We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to support elementary students in the Fredericksburg area. These full-time contract positions provide an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and growth.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Provide direct instruction aligned with state standards and individualized student goals.
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, behavior specialists, and related service providers.
Supervise and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
Collect and analyze student progress data and maintain compliance documentation.
Foster communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and independent living skills.
Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
Required Qualifications
Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure.
Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
Knowledge of special education compliance and documentation requirements.
Strong classroom management and behavior support skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Experience in self-contained special education classrooms.
Familiarity with ABA principles, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems.
Experience supporting students with significant cognitive and behavioral needs.
Crisis prevention/de-escalation training preferred.
