Position Overview
- Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher near Gloucester, VA. This position involves working with students who have diverse learning needs to support their academic, behavioral, and social development in a school-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students’ learning needs
- Modify curriculum and classroom activities to support student success
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Use evidence-based strategies to support behavioral and academic goals
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License (or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience working with students with disabilities (school-based experience preferred)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt instruction for varying ability levels
