Special Education Teacher | Hartford, Connecticut

Make a meaningful impact supporting students’ growth as a Special Education Teacher in a dedicated Social Emotional Behavior classroom for grades 3-5. This full-time, in-person opportunity spans 40 hours each week, running Monday through Friday from 8:20 AM to 3:40 PM. Based near Hartford, CT, this contract position extends until October, with the potential for continuation.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (or eligibility) for CT
- Demonstrated ability to work with elementary students, particularly in social emotional behavioral (SEB) programs
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral interventions and progress monitoring
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with families and fellow educators
- Compassionate, patient, and creative problem-solver
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and individualized support in a small classroom setting for students with social emotional and behavioral needs
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to foster academic, emotional, and behavioral progress
- Manage and implement behavioral strategies that support a positive learning environment
- Collect data, assess student progress, and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate regularly with multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings
- Engage with caregivers and community resources to ensure well-rounded student support
- Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom that empowers each learner
