Ideal candidates will possess:
- A valid Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education or eligibility for the Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP)
- Prior experience working with middle school students or within special education settings is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of practices and regulations applicable to special education programs
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support diverse learners
- Enthusiasm for fostering a supportive classroom environment
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing specialized instruction and creating tailored lesson plans to address the learning needs of students with varying abilities
- Managing a caseload of up to 10 students, ensuring individualized attention and progress monitoring
- Collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to facilitate student success
- Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to all state and federal special education regulations
- Participating in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as needed
