Special Education Teacher in Holyoke, MA
Step into an impactful leadership role supporting middle school students as an Evaluation Team Leader for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. In this full-time, onsite contract position, you will play a key role coordinating and facilitating special education services and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance with all special education regulations in collaboration with school leadership.
- Coordinating and facilitating processes governed by M.G.L. 71B and 603 CMR 28.00 Special Education Regulations.
- Acting as a primary liaison between families, staff, building administrators, and community agencies.
- Preparing and finalizing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for an assigned caseload of students in grades 6–8.
- Regularly attending professional development sessions as scheduled by the Bureau of Pupil Services.
Qualifications and background desired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Massachusetts certification as a Teacher for Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred; other DESE certifications or licensure areas may be considered.
- At least three years of successful public school experience.
- Experience or advanced study in special education, guidance, counseling, or psychology.
- Demonstrated ability to work empathetically and effectively in multicultural school communities.
- Ability to meet all required background, CORI, fingerprint, and screening checks.
