Special Education Teacher in Joliet, IL
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in dynamic programs near Joliet, IL. In this full-time role, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated team, making a meaningful difference for students with special needs in either an Autism support or transition program. You’ll guide a caseload of eight non-verbal students, aided by 2-3 paraprofessionals, fostering both learning and growth in a caring environment.
Qualifications:
- Active LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) certification required
- Professional Educator License (PEL) must be current and valid
- Previous experience teaching special education, preferably with students in Autism support or transition settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive classroom practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned to each student’s needs and IEP goals
- Manage a caseload of eight non-verbal students, ensuring progress and well-being
- Work closely with 2-3 paraprofessionals to provide holistic classroom support
- Implement classroom strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles
- Develop and maintain IEP documentation while collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Foster a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
This is a full-time, on-site position from August 17, 2026, to May 28, 2027, with regular hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:15 pm. More details about the assignment and program focus will be shared during the interview process.
