Position Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, you will:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs and educational goals.
Provide specialized instruction to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
Create engaging lesson plans aligned with student abilities and curriculum standards.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
Implement classroom management strategies and positive behavior supports.
Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements.
Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students feel supported and valued.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
Valid Kansas Special Education teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure
Ability to complete required district onboarding requirements
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs
Preferred Qualifications
Previous school-based special education experience
Experience writing and implementing IEPs
Experience supporting students in resource, inclusion, or self-contained settings
Familiarity with special education documentation and compliance requirements
