Middle School Special Education Teacher - Kennett Square, Pennsylvania

Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in an Autistic Support Classroom. This full-time, onsite contract position focuses on grades 7 and 8 and offers an opportunity to foster growth and independence among approximately six students. You will work closely with dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) in a collaborative educational environment that values teamwork and student success.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience teaching middle school students, particularly within autistic support or similar special education settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Instruct and support middle school students (grades 7 and 8) in an Autistic Support Classroom setting
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with classroom PCAs to deliver consistent, high-quality support for academic and behavioral growth
- Monitor progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate regularly with families and support staff
- Employ varied instructional techniques and adaptive technologies to address students’ diverse learning styles
- Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
