What We're Looking For:
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License (or eligibility)
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Expertise in special education compliance and maintaining accurate documentation
- Strong behavior support and classroom management techniques
- Skilled in collaborating with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Previous experience in a self-contained classroom or supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly valued
- Familiarity with ABA principles, visual schedules, functional communication systems, social stories, and crisis prevention/de-escalation training is preferred
Your Day-to-Day:
- Develop and deliver lessons to meet students’ academic, social, communication, and adaptive needs following their IEPs
- Employ evidence-based instructional methods tailored to students with varying cognitive, sensory, and communication abilities
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed
- Collect, analyze, and report on student progress while ensuring compliance with state and federal special education guidelines
- Supervise paraprofessionals in the classroom and ensure effective teamwork
- Foster a classroom environment that is safe, engaging, and conducive to growth in self-regulation and independent living skills
