Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement or equivalent)
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, IEP development, and differentiated instruction strategies
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with diverse learning needs in small group and individual settings
- Adapt general education curriculum and modify lessons as necessary to ensure access and success for all learners
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to track student progress and develop strategies that promote student success
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, respectful environment
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities
