Special Education Teacher - New Braunfels, Texas
Experience a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Life Skills for the upcoming school year. This position—onsite and full-time—spans from August 2026 through May 2027, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours. You will be working within a self-contained K-12 classroom environment, empowering students with diverse learning needs to develop essential life and academic skills.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Special Education Certification (K-12) and Texas Generalist License (K-12) required
- Prior experience teaching special education, particularly in life skills or similar self-contained settings, preferred
- Strong ability to adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all students
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s abilities and needs
- Instruct and support students in both academic and functional life skills within a self-contained classroom setting
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure student success
- Regularly communicate with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Maintain accurate student records and meet all required reporting deadlines
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes growth and independence
