Make a difference in students’ lives by joining a school-based team as a Special Education Teacher for a full school year. Located close to New Milford, CT, this is a contract opportunity working 35 hours per week with dedicated paraeducator support in your classroom, allowing you to focus on individualized instruction and fostering a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid and current Connecticut State Certification as a Special Education Teacher is required
- Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs is strongly preferred
- Ability to differentiate instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, both with students and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Work closely with paraeducators to provide classroom support and facilitate student learning
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and updating IEPs as required
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support academic and social-emotional growth
- Adapt curriculum and modify instructional resources to meet students’ unique needs
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing professional development
