Key Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License required
- Previous experience in a school setting as a Special Education Teacher preferred
- Deep understanding of IEP processes, special education best practices, and current educational strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff
- Ability to conduct educational evaluations and develop individualized plans
Responsibilities:
- Provide special education instruction and support to students spanning kindergarten through high school
- Complete approximately 5-10 evaluations per year, ensuring timely and thorough assessments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure cohesive support for students
- Document student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in eligibility and IEP meetings
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to accommodate various learning differences
- Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment where all students are encouraged to thrive
