Special Education Teacher | North Haven, Connecticut

Responsibilities include providing specialized instruction to students with diverse needs while expertly managing cases and ensuring accurate data collection to track progress. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to tailor individualized education programs (IEPs) and create a nurturing, inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience with elementary and middle school students (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Confidence in case management and maintaining detailed documentation
- Solid understanding of data collection methods and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to supporting student success through differentiated instruction
Daily responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and small group instruction in accordance with student IEPs
- Managing a split caseload across elementary and middle school populations
- Conducting ongoing assessments and data collection to inform instruction
- Coordinating IEP meetings and working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Maintaining open communication with families and administration
- Advocating for students’ needs and promoting an inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant special education laws and guidelines
