Take part in shaping the educational journey of students with exceptional needs for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. Dedicated professionals are needed to fill 21 contract roles in special education, serving students throughout K-12 levels. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in life skills, autism, or behavioral classrooms, supporting diverse learners through tailored programs and passionate advocacy.
Positions are available across elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as two roles within alternative school settings for students with significant behavioral needs. Assignments begin August 2026 and extend through late May 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Active and valid Kansas teaching license appropriate for the assigned grade level, required prior to placement
- Experience or strong interest in life skills, autism, or intensive behavioral programs
- Adaptability to support students with varying academic, emotional, and behavioral challenges
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff and families
- Dedication to fostering inclusive, growth-oriented classroom environments
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adjust instruction and intervention techniques to student needs
- Collect, monitor, and analyze student data to inform progress and modify supports
- Employ evidence-based strategies to encourage academic and social development
- Partner with general education teachers, related service providers, and counselors
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
