Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Special Education teaching certification for the state of Kansas
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students in a life skills or resource setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management abilities
- Collaborative approach and commitment to fostering student growth and independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and adapt curriculum based on each student’s IEP goals
- Manage caseloads for either middle school life skills or high school resource students
- Monitor, track, and report student performance and progress to teams and families
- Develop engaging lesson plans that encourage participation, self-advocacy, and skill development
- Collaborate with general educators and staff to ensure inclusive, supportive learning environments
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as needed
- Create a positive, respectful, and motivating classroom atmosphere
