Special Education Teacher | 1:1 Case Management

A school district in Lewiston, Maine is hiring a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to provide individualized support through 1:1 case management. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small caseload of students while making a meaningful impact on their academic and personal growth.
Assignment Details
- Position: Full-time; 35–40 hours per week
- Duration: 2026–2027 school year
- Caseload: 1:1 case management for ~8-10 students
- Open to traveling Special Education Teachers
Required Qualifications
- Active Maine Special Education (282) Teaching License
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Experience developing and managing IEPs
- Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with individualized or 1:1 special education services
- Familiarity with behavior support plans and individualized interventions
- Ability to collaborate with families, therapists, and school staff
- Passion for supporting students with unique learning needs
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of approximately 8–10 students
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide specialized instruction and individualized academic support
- Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with all special education regulations
