Special Education Teacher - Providence, Rhode Island

You will provide instruction in a classroom serving nine students in grades 3–4. The classroom maintains a 1:3 teacher-to-assistant ratio, so you’ll be well-equipped to individualize learning with the help of committed teaching assistants. Comprehensive training is scheduled before the school year starts, ensuring you have the resources and knowledge to thrive.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Rhode Island teaching license in either mild-moderate or severe special education
- Experience working with elementary-aged children with developmental disabilities preferred
- Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and manage small group instruction
- Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and dedication to student progress
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
Role Highlights:
- Instruct and support a caseload of 9 students in grades 3–4 at a single school assignment
- Maintain a structured, nurturing learning environment with strong TA support
- Adapt lessons and materials to suit individual student needs
- Record and assess student performance, modifying plans as needed
- Collaborate with related service providers, classroom assistants, and families
- Engage in required training at the start of the school year
