Qualifications & Experience:
- New York State Special Education (Students with Disabilities) licensure required, or active progress towards obtaining one.
- Candidates with bachelor’s degrees considered; Master’s degree preferred.
- Recent graduates or those needing NY licensure transfer are encouraged to apply—flexibility provided for certification process.
- Prior work with level 3 autism, severe behavioral needs, or non-verbal/alternative communicators is highly desired.
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum, alternative assessments, and differentiated instruction are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to students in self-contained environments using individualized academic, behavioral, and communication strategies.
- Develop and modify curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners, including alternative assessments and supports for non-verbal students.
- Collaborate closely with classroom staff and related service providers to foster a positive and functional learning atmosphere.
- Maintain thorough documentation of IEPs, progress reports, and classroom records.
- Commit to a schedule of 7:45 am–3:15 pm, Monday–Friday, with up to 40 hours/week available (approved additional time for paperwork, IEPs, planning).
- Adapt to the immediate needs of the classroom and actively contribute to the extended school year’s success.
