Special Education Teacher - Quitman, Georgia

Make a direct impact supporting K-12 students by facilitating communication and access to education in an onsite role as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate with dedicated teachers, staff, and special education teams in a supportive school environment Monday through Friday.
Candidates will work closely with students, educators, and support personnel to interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring clear communication and full classroom participation. Your expertise will help create a more inclusive and engaging learning experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
- Valid Educational Interpreter License issued by the GaPSC
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings is highly valued
- Familiarity with both general education and special education classroom environments a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, impartial interpretation services between students, staff, and peers throughout the school day
- Collaborate with educators and special education professionals to support individualized learning and access
- Prepare for classroom activities by reviewing lesson material and understanding vocabulary relevant to each subject
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics in all interactions
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independence
