Special Education Teacher in Ringgold, GA
Step into a meaningful role supporting high school students in a specialized, self-contained classroom designed for learners following a functional curriculum. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work collaboratively with two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician in an established, supportive environment. The role spans the academic year from August 4th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, with potential for additional pre- or post-planning days and a strong likelihood of renewal based on performance.
Qualifications:
- Current Special Education (SPED) certification through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC), valid through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required (will consider candidates with pending credentials)
- Experience or strong desire to work with lower-functioning populations in a self-contained classroom
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
- Positive communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with significant needs in a structured, self-contained classroom
- Implement functional curriculum and individualized education plans (IEPs) to promote student growth and independence
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and an RBT to maximize student achievement and well-being
- Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
