Step into an impactful role supporting students with diverse needs as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position is situated in a welcoming and collaborative school community near Salem, OR, with multiple full-time, onsite openings beginning September 9, 2026, and concluding June 26, 2027. You'll play a vital part in guiding students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, with assignments tailored to your experience and preferences.
Openings are available across various settings, including:
- A middle school life skills classroom (12 students, 4 instructional assistants), designed to support a combination of behavioral and low academic needs.
- An elementary K-2 developmental classroom (16 students, 5 instructional assistants), focusing on foundational learning, establishing functional routines, and assisting some non-verbal students.
- Two vacancies within a highly supportive elementary behavior program (Grades 3–5, 13 students, 4 instructional assistants), dedicated to students with intensive behavioral health needs.
Ideal candidates possess:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification/licensure for Oregon, or ability to obtain before the start date.
- Previous experience working with students with varying academic, social, and behavioral needs.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with instructional assistants and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and adapting teaching strategies to individual circumstances.
Role responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitoring student progress and providing meaningful interventions.
- Collaborating with families and other educators to maximize student achievement.
- Contributing to a positive school climate with patience, flexibility, and empathy.
