This contract opportunity is tailored for those with a passion for elementary-level special education, particularly within moderately to severely impacted classrooms serving primarily autistic students.
This full-time position follows a 6.5-hour workday (with a 30-minute lunch), totaling 35 hours each week, and spans from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027. You’ll join a collaborative team supported by additional staff and benefit from curriculum resources such as TeachTown and TEACCH.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active California moderate/severe special education teaching credential (required)
- Experience or strong interest in serving elementary students (K-2) with moderate/severe disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum
- Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, administrators, and other specialists
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn and implement TeachTown and TEACCH materials
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to a classroom of up to 10 elementary students (K-2), with the daily support of two paraprofessionals
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring measurable progress and inclusion
- Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families to promote student success and well-being
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of student progress and required reporting
- Foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students
