Required qualifications and experience:
- Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License
- Experience working with high school-aged students in special education settings preferred
- Strong commitment to individualized instruction and adapting curriculum based on student needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to addressing both academic and behavioral goals
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to meet individualized education plans for students on your caseload
- Modify teaching methods and materials to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities
- Monitor progress, assess needs, and collect data to inform instructional decisions
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, families, and related service providers
- Maintain an organized classroom, fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, demonstrating knowledge and advocacy for your students
This contract opportunity offers a steady, full-time schedule—Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week—within a year-round school, meaning greater consistency for you and your students.
