- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate required.
- Proven ability to manage aggressive behaviors with both physical and emotional resilience.
- Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Other qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs and strengths.
- Deliver engaging instruction to students with diverse abilities, including those on the autism spectrum.
- Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to provide collaborative support and ensure consistent progress.
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and emotional well-being.
- Document student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide regular updates to parents and administrators.
- Respond productively to challenging behaviors, employing techniques to de-escalate situations and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Continuously seek professional development and stay current with best practices in special education.
