Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification and state licensure (or eligibility for WA certification)
- Previous experience with elementary-aged students preferred
- Strong background in supporting children with intellectual and developmental disabilities or life skills needs
- Excellent classroom management and adaptive instructional skills
- Compassion, creativity, and flexibility in teaching approaches
- Collaborative attitude for working with school teams, parents, and service providers
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the Life Skills classroom
- Design engaging, functional lessons that support students’ academic, social, and behavioral development
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to meet each student’s unique learning needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and related service providers
- Maintain open, ongoing communication with families regarding student progress
- Foster an inclusive, safe, and respectful classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings
