Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Washington Special Education (SPED) teaching license and ESA certificate (please provide verification upon application)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in special education, preferably in a school environment
- Strong background in transition programs or supporting young adult learners
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, and families
- Commitment to cultivating a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Openness to the BIE adjudication process (which may briefly delay start dates)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction that promotes independence and life skills in students aged 18-22
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for young adult learners
- Collaborate with staff, service providers, and family members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support
- Foster meaningful transitions from school to adult life, connecting students with resources and opportunities
- Maintain organized, accurate documentation of student progress
- Provide mentorship and advocacy for students navigating post-secondary challenges
