Make a meaningful impact guiding young adults through life’s transitions in an onsite Special Education teaching role for the 2026-2027 school year. This is your opportunity to provide daily instruction and support within a dynamic transition classroom setting, working with students aged 18-22. Required Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of Special Education teaching experience within a school setting
- Valid Washington SPED license and Education Staff Associate (ESA) certificate (must be verifiable)
- Demonstrated expertise supporting transition-age students (18-22), preferably in a similar classroom environment
- Strong knowledge of individualized transition plans (ITPs) and adaptive instructional strategies
- Ability to build trust and rapport with students, families, and professional staff
- Effective communicator with excellent recordkeeping and progress monitoring skills
- Experience implementing inclusive practices that foster independence and community engagement
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, meaningful instruction tailored to each student’s abilities and transition goals
- Create and implement individual education and transition plans (IEPs/ITPs)
- Foster essential life, vocational, and self-advocacy skills for successful post-school outcomes
- Collaborate closely with families, agencies, and program staff to maximize student support
- Provide ongoing assessment, data collection, and written progress updates for all students
- Participate in school team meetings and transition planning committees
- Maintain consistent classroom management while supporting student independence
This full-time contract position is exclusively onsite, offering a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours. Please be aware: a BIE adjudication process may delay your start by up to one week, and all candidates must complete a prescreening process.
